Why creating a blog / news section on your small business website creates benefits and a happier you!
Blogging is now an everyday part of the internet where a lot of people go first to their favourite blogs for news before reading a newspaper or listening to the radio. Internet Marketers are constantly saying how you can tap into that flow of content by creating your own blog but what are the actual benefits?
Here are a few that I have listed which will hopefully inspire you to start your own blog or news section on your website.
1. Be Seen
This is the most obvious one. The more content on your website the more likely you are to be seen by other people looking for your information. You will drive traffic to your website if you are giving your readers content that they want to read. Remember to also put any of your blog content on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin and any other social sharing accounts that you use.
2. Makes your site sticky
So as a direct result of being seen and driving more traffic you are going to make your site more sticky. This means people are going to spend more time on your site because you are giving them what they want.
3. Get New Customers
So you are getting more traffic and people are staying on your site longer so you should be converting that extra traffic into leads. If you have positioned your content correctly and put in clear Calls to Action then people will start enquiring about or purchasing your offering.
4. You are the Expert
To help increase that extra traffic to customers you need to lend credibility to your product and build trust in your services / products.
Nothing says “Expert” quite like tons of content on your speciality subject built up over time.
You will become a resource for your reader base with the more you blog.
5. Increase your current Customers awareness
So we have spoken about get new customers but what about your existing ones? They want to be looked after and feel wanted so prompting them with new information that will make a difference in their business will help to do that.
If you have put up a blog article that you think is relevant to some of your customers let them know.
Send them a personal email with a link or if they are already following you on social media or on your email list that should happening automatically.
6. Google loves new content
This is is probably the main reason Internet Marketers are pushing you to write a blog. Google wants to give people what they want when they do a search so they reward websites the give current, regular and relevant content.
Businesses that actively manage a blog get more Google traffic than those who don’t.
But don’t just take my word for it. See this link for information on businesses that published at least 5 blog articles in the last 7 days drew 6.9 times more organic search traffic
7. Creates opportunities to share
So Google loves new content but so do we. As soon as we find something cool and new we want to share it with our friends. The same will work on your blog, as people find it and like it they will want to share it.
8. Gives you ownership and visibility on your own website
This is an area that is sadly lacking in businesses that don’t actively manage their website. You get a website done because everyone else is but then see that as job done and it sits in the corner being ignored.
Your website will get stale very quickly and because you ignore it so does everyone else including Google and potential new customers.
Writing a regular blog keeps you in touch with your website. it will become your baby that you constantly nuture and take pride in as it grows.
9. Create new opportunites in your business
I don’t hear this one mentioned very often but I believe in the synchronicity of purposeful actions or “build it and they will come”. You will find that as you put yourself out there and share information that new opportunties will have arrive in your business that you hadn’t thought about before.
So in Summary
- You will get more traffic
- You will get more sales
- You will be happier
So no more excuses, go out there and blog.
If in any doubt as to whether I believe in the above think about why I have written this blog!!! Clue: there are 9 reasons…
